A
Fairytale Wedding at a Stateley Home Built for a King
You might be surprised
to hear that, tucked behind country lanes near Tonbridge, is
a private stately home. Even more surprised the house is literally
hidden in 73 acres of its own land, with a private lake, formal
gardens, woods, pastures and rolling lawns - you have to drive
for a quarter of a mile to even see the house! |

|
That's
because, for over six centuries, Oxon Hoath has always
been privately owned.
We reserve a few weekends each year for private wedding
receptions ... or we can offer you a weekday for a small
discount. For your reception you will have the entire
house and grounds to yourself and we will make you feel
utterly at home.
Huge
doors interlink the rooms so your guests can wander
freely from one to another. The main hall is eighty
feet high and features a grand central staircase, a
gallery and a wonderfully decorative Victorian glass
Atrium. The huge pillars are painted bright red (a relic
of a wild 1960s party by the previous owners we thought
worth preserving). |
|
 |
| We
have 28 bedrooms so up to 50 family and friends can stay over
and many more can come to your celebrations. The bedrooms
range from grand suites to quaint attic rooms with pretty
painted floors. |
 |
Your
main celebrations will be in the three grand reception
rooms, centred around the Jacobean library. All three
rooms overlook the oldest untouched par terre terrace
in England down over pastures to Oxon Hoath Lake and the
Weald of Kent beyond
(pictured right). |

| Remember,
we are a private house, and it’s your party and your biggest
day. Your wedding and party can be as traditional or as individual
as you like. Just let us know your ideas and we’ll help
you to arrange it all. |

 |
 |
| Our
wine and champagne is all organic but you can bring your own
if you wish. Food-wise we cater for many budgets from a simple
finger buffet to a scrumptious, full-service wedding feast.
Oxon Hoath has had its own gallery at the local church in
West Peckham for 400 years for the Squire’s family.
We can introduce you to the present day reverend, Father McConaghie,
if you wish. Why not make it a real country house party? You
could hire the estate for the whole weekend! |
 |
The price for a Saturday reception in 2009 is £3,250 for exclusive hire from 9am til midnight. Extensions can be arranged.
We can seat 65 guests for a formal meal and many more for a buffet or party. Catering prices in 2009 range from £10.50 per head for a simple buffet to £41 for a full service 3 course meal. Overnight B&B is £59 per person.
